Horseback Riding
Wyonegonic offers an English Riding horse program to all interested campers. We have a fully equipped stable with 10 horses, a riding ring, and a network of trails on Wyonegonic’s 350 acre property. Beginning riders learn basic skills and how to be safe and comfortable around horses. Intermediate and advanced riders work on their equitation and stable management skills. Trail rides are available to all levels of riders and vary in length and difficulty.
Riding is an optional activity and most campers have between one to three opportunities to get to the stables each week depending on camper desire, trip schedules and weather.
A popular activity is a picnic lunch trail ride to the Sudduth Farmhouse. Senior Campers have the opportunity to gain hands on stable experience through our Wrangler Program. They learn to care for the horses and stables and can help as leading assistants on trail rides for younger campers.
Campers can participate in the Gymkhana which is an event where novice riders can use their newly learned skills in a variety of games on horseback. More experienced riders can practice for the Wyonegonic Horse Show or join the Drill Team where the campers create a choreographed routine set to music.
