Tripping Program
Wyonegonic has an extensive out of camp tripping program in which all campers participate. Each camper spends an overnight at one of our wilderness campsites on Moose Pond with their cabin-group. They use this experience to practice their outdoor living skills by canoeing across the lake, sleeping in a tent, and cooking their meals over a fire.
At the beginning of each session, we offer many hiking and canoeing day trips where the campers prepare for longer trips. The trips are planned with a varying degree of difficulty so that each camper can choose their challenge. We offer hiking trips throughout the White Mountains of New Hampshire and southern Maine. The canoe trips are a combination of lake and river canoeing.
As the summer progresses, campers have the opportunity to go on longer trips. These trips range from overnight to week long opportunities. Here are some examples of trips we offer:
Junior Camp:
- Lake Region canoe trip
- Overnight on Doublehead Mountain
- Day Hiking around Crocker Pond
Intermediate Camp:
- Canoeing Lake Umbagog National Wildlife Refuge
- Day Hiking in Evans Notch White Mountains
Backpacking Ethan Pond and Zealand Hut White Mountains
Senior Camp:
- Backpacking in Baxter State Park
- Canoeing the Allagash Waterway
- Traversing the Presidential Range and Mount Washington
- Canoeing the West Branch of the Penobscot River
We offer a Wilderness Tripping Program for girls ages 15 and up. These trips are longer in length and more challenging. Please visit our Wilderness Tripping section for more information.
