Winona Camps, Our Brother Camp
Wyonegonic's brother camp, Winona Camps, had been established in 1908, also by the Cobb family on Moose Pond in Bridgton. They are located on the same lake as Wyonegonic. The Cobbs, being educators, had infused their camps with a respect for learning. The Sudduths and Ordways enthusiastically endorse this same goal to share with youth the time-honored practices and ideals of wilderness living.
With Winona just five miles up the shore from Wyonegonic, brothers and sisters can in fact come to camp together. Many activities such as regattas, road races, and dances are traditionally co-sponsored by the two camps to sustain their long-standing relationship. Many things have remained the same over their 100 years: boys still spend their summers at camp living in canvas tents on the shores of Moose Pond and learning outdoor living skills in western Maine. But “newer” activities, such as rock climbing, kayaking and lacrosse, compliment our history as one of the oldest summer boys camps in the country.
Boys from around the country and around the world come to summer camp each year at Winona to experience the traditions, such as The Bat, friendly Red – Gray competitions and The Great Relay. Our campers and staff represent over 25 different states and 25 different countries each summer at Winona. This diversity of people, as well as their beautiful location on Moose Pond, gives boys friendships and memories that last a lifetime. Read more about the Winona Camps Experience.
